I installed Windows 11 and I haven’t experienced any of the issues I had with the “Creators Update” version of Windows 10. It ran more or less flawlessly during my 40 hours with the new Windows. I did get complaints from my early-adopters regarding Windows Snap, which I did not try and I can’t really comment on any changes in the Windows Hello facial recognition program. One of my major complaints with Windows 10 was the lack of a volume mixer. Windows 11 adds a volume mixer to the Control Panel and it’s very easy to access. While the volume mixer doesn’t go to the maximum volume level, its access from the Windows Start menu is quick and it’s easy to adjust the volume levels of the system and all its applications.

The new version of Windows is now available for PCs configured for Windows Hello facial recognition. I tested Windows 11 on an Asus Zenbook U R532 just before the release of the Windows 11, with a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro notebook. I like the way Windows Hello recognizes me faster than Windows 10 and using facial recognition means I no longer need a passcode. I didn’t get to use the new Windows Hello feature in conjunction with facial recognition, however, as I missed the time window for getting the update. I did get to test the Windows Hello facial recognition option in advance of the product announcement at the Windows 10 Event on October 13, but at that point, I had trouble recognizing my brother.
